Sustainability
The Cullen Lab is committed to reducing its impact on the environment. We have implemented numerous procedures over the years and we are always interested on improving. If you have any suggestions please reach out!
The Cullen Lab is a certified laboratory on the Laboratory Efficiency Assessment Framework (LEAF) at the University of Bristol. Given that laboratory spaces can consume 5-10x more energy per square meter than academic space [1], we understand the importance of reducing our energy consumption. Here are a couple of ways in which we maximise our sustainability:
1. A standard freezer at -80°C will use as much energy as a house [1]. We routinely check our freezers to ensure appropriate stocks are maintained.
2. Laboratories are large consumers of plastic. We ensure to recycle all possible plastic, alongside other recyclable materials.
